Craft Talks at the June 17 Meeting
At the June 17 meeting, three Rotarians give presentations that highlighted their professional lives. Michael Turner, owner of Bearsworth Promotions, a full-service public relations, marketing, promotional products, and publication firm. Public relations is the art of effective and efficient communications, said Michael. It's more than promoting people, companies, and ideas. "It shapes attitudes and opinions and increase public awareness." Bearsworth specialized in offering  creative ideas for promoting their clients' businesses and at the same time enhancing their brand awareness and strengthening their bottom line. Some of Michael's clients are Kaiser Southern California Permanente Medical Group; Los Angeles Unified School District; Rosie's BBQ & Grillery; and the Encino, Chatsworth, and Simi Valley Chambers of Commerce.
 
Malati Baker works as a Farmers Insurance agent.  She has solid experience in all aspects of management, particularly in sales, promotion, and production. Malati has strong communication skills and enjoys teamwork. She is currently a board member for L.A. Workforce Investment Board Youth Services. She is also a life skills coach and active with the Ventura County Mentor Program, the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, and Troops and Rotarians.
 
Bernie Otis has had an illustrious 60-year career in food service consuilting working with such giants as Disney and Hilton. He was involved in the early stages of developing Las Vegas working with the late Jay Sarno at Caesars Palace as well as at Circus Circus and the Cosmopolitan. Bernie has also helped clients at the W Hotel in Hollywood as well as many in the healthcare, resort, and restaurant industries and government agencies.  Bernie uses his creative thinking and talents, onsite administrative skills, and the latest technology in the planning and completion of projects in a timely manner and on budget.
