Rotary Leads the Way!
By Bernie Otis

Following Lonnie Mintz’s, our newest member and our Rotarian of the Day, who opened the April 5 meeting, President-elect, Paul Gross announced the members of our the 2017–2018 Board of Directors.

We were then enthralled by a presentation by Past District Governor Anil K. Garg’s whose slide presentation and speech about the role Rotary has played in the worldwide effort to eradicate Polio. Despite the great results of this endeavor, , which began in 1980, we learned that there is no cure for Polio. However, Rotary is doing all it can to find ways to prevent its spread and in 2015–2016 we were able to reduce the number of case by 50%

Unfortunately, Rotary has an ineffective job in communicating these efforts to the world. It is important to know that unless we make a stronger effort to get all clubs and the community involved money for the program will run out by 2018.
