Hello Fellow Rotarians and Friends,

I am sending this message from Singapore where I am attending the Rotary International Convention with club members Natasha & Eduardo Estrada.   We did some sightseeing and attended the District 5280 Dinner along with Rotarians and friends from neighbouring districts. I also went through the Hall of Friendship & I took a picture of the Days for Girls booth, which is an organization that our club supports. We also have been attending breakout sessions to learn more about what our club can do. I’ve met Rotarians from Australia, the Philippines, Uganda, & all over the US. I am very grateful for having this opportunity and hope members from our club will be able to attend the RI Convention next year in Calgary.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication.

Yours in Rotary,

Michelle Rodriguez
President 2023-2024

Holocaust Survivor Eva Perlman
At the May 8 meeeting, Eva Perlman, a 92 year old ball of energy, wisdom, memories and a Holocaust survivor spoke about her family's story. Eva was born in Germany and had to escape when Hitler and the Nazis came to power. She was forced to hide in homes throughout France and London, in a similar situation as Anne Frank. She saw many of her friends exterminated. Her autobiography is a must-read. Guided by Miracles is an extraordinary life story that begins hiding in the south of France during World War II, and narrowly escaping capture by the Nazis. After adventures, travel and hardships she ultimately found her purpose as a Holocaust survivor educating Jewish teens on the annual March of the Living. "Never forget....recent events have once again shown us that Antisemitism is all around us and we must stand up for ourselves against those who seek to destroy us," said Perlman. "I was the victim of antisemitism last year when my bus bench ad was spray painted with Nazi imagery and a swastika calling me a Jew Realtor."  Paul Gross made the arrangements for the speaker.  Photo: Lonnie Mintz and Eva Perlman
